The O. Perry Walker choir performed throughout the summit and opened the program with the song, “I Need You To Survive”. O. Perry Walker has pledged to carry on the city’s theme, “I need you to survive,” and to stand with Mayor Landrieu, Criminal Justice Commissioner James Carter, and other leaders in our city to take a stance against violence in New Orleans.
On September 22, 2011, during O. Perry Walker’s Morning Gathering assembly, Principal Mary L. H. Laurie and one of O. Perry Walker’s community partners and alum, Rev. Raynard Casimier of Love Outreach Church, urged Walker students to do their part in helping each other to survive in their everyday lives: in their communities, at home, in school, etc.
